Appin is a small town in the Macarthur Region situated about 35 kilometres north-west of Wollongong. Appin has many opportunities for the kids to get out on the weekend to play their sport with local soccer, netball, rugby league and touch football teams, as well as a nearby tennis courts and sportsground. North of the town lies Appin Motorcross Complex and Appin Greyhound Track. Appin consists of 1 Primary school with high schools in nearby towns, as well as a playgroup and mobile preschool for the young ones. The coal mines and new industrial area continue to be a major employer in the area. Appin features beautiful historic buildings with a lovely park for the kids to play at, as well as Cataract Dam which has a huge picnic area perfect for a day out with the family.
